BRIDAL CORSET/BASQUE SEWING MASTERCLASS LONDON

In this Summer Special Sewing masterclass you will learn how to make a beautiful corset or basque for Wedding gowns or High Fashion. These structured garments are a popular choice for luxury fashion and evening wear.

Learn step by step how to sew a corset or basque , using couture sewing techniques. This will include several finishing techniques, using laces , draping and various hand sewing techniques to create high end finishes.

During this intensive 3day corsetry masterclass you will get expert tuition in the art of corset making.
Sew a classic overbust corset/basque OR a cupped corset/basque.

This course is divided in 2 consecutive days in the London classroom , 5 days working from home in your own time with help of the tutor (optional) and one final day in the London classroom
For a full (bridal) gown you can opt for 4 days in the classroom and 5 days working from home in your own time with help of the tutor .

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
-you should be confident with sewing to get most from this masterclass-

Specialist materials,sewing machines and tools will be provided in the London classroom:
You will be asked to provide some fabrics
Bring along your own decorations or choose from a range of fabrics, laces and decorations in the classroom
Please let us know if you like to bring along your own sewing machine.

WHAT YOU WILL RECEIVE:
- a corset/basque pattern in your size
- quality corsetry supplies that you will need in the classroom:
- boning
- some specialist fabrics / tapes/ binding
- decorations such as laces & lacing
- a corset/basque made by you

Outline of this masterclass :
1st Day Classroom:
- Introduction
- fabric overview: what fabrics to choose for your choosen style
- start cutting your fabrics
- start sewing your corset/basque structure
2nd Day Classroom:
- covering the base with lace, or draping fabric techniques etc
- couture sewing with laces / draping etc
- corset/basque boning overview : what boning works best
- how to insert boning to the garment
- fitting and altering corset/bodice if needed
WEEKDAYS :
Optional -work in your own time on your garment and get advice each day from your tutor via live chat
3rd Day Classroom:
- finishing your corset /basque
- adding loops , eyelets , a zip or any other fasteners

Advanced students can opt for 4days in the classroom(5days from home with help of tutor live chat option) to sew a full structured gown

Classes are deliberately small with a maximum of 5 students only .

Sewing machines from the classroom can be rented throughout the week.
